The Twentieth Sinkankas Symposium was held at GIA’s World Headquarters in Carlsbad, California on April 25, 2026. It featured 10 speakers on topics related to one of the most storied gem-producing regions of the world. Specialists noted in their fields discussed geology, field gemology, geochemical characterization of sapphires, inclusion features in Burmese gems, modern mining and production, market reports, jade nomenclature, history of jadeite, pearls, and the quest for Burma's finest and rarest gems. Sinkankas Symposium Printed Proceedings
Ordering volumes of past proceedings online via DPI Direct’s website is closed for 2026. Typically, pre-ordering of forthcoming and past volumes opens for a brief period (usually 4–5 weeks) beginning in March and ending 2 weeks before a scheduled symposium (usually mid- to late April).
