The Twentieth Sinkankas Symposium was held at GIA’s World Headquarters in Carlsbad, California on April 25, 2026. It featured 10 speakers on topics related to one of the most storied gem-producing regions of the world. Specialists noted in their fields discussed geology, field gemology, geochemical characterization of sapphires, inclusion features in Burmese gems, modern mining and production, market reports, jade nomenclature, history of jadeite, pearls, and the quest for Burma's finest and rarest gems. Sinkankas Symposium Printed Proceedings
Printed proceedings for the 2026 symposium were sold out, but in response to numerous requests, DPI Direct will produce a second and final run in 2026. For a brief period, the current volume (Twentieth, 2026) and back issues may be ordered online here for the original price.
